Finis SwiMP3 V2 Underwater MP3 Player-New Design Just out for 2007 with Goggles

Finis SwiMP3 V2 Underwater MP3 Player-New Design Just out for 2007 with Goggles The SwiMP3 v2 underwater MP3 player is an incredible audio experience. Imagine listening to hours of your own music during your swim workout. The SwiMP3's innovative sound transfer technology offers exception underwater sound quality. Standard players rely on the transmission of sound through air or water causing the swimmer to perceive only muffled noise. The SwiMP3 uses bone conduction - the direct transfer of sound vibrations from the cheek bone to the inner ear - to provide the swimmer with exceptional sound clarity. The SwiMP3 is fully waterproof and can be used with all the competitive swim strokes. How Does It Work? The new SwiMP3 is revolutionary in that it relies on bone conduction of sound. When the device is placed on any bones of the skull (i.e. the cheek bones or the mastoid tip) it leads to vibration of the fluid in the inner ear. Thus swimmers can enjoy clarity of sound with the SwiMP3 device that was never before possible. Bone conduction hearing is a safe, well-established hearing mechanism in humans that the SwiMP3 player leverages to enhance aquatic activity. Finis's application of the technology brings an entirely new level of experience to swimmers, either while working out or taking a leisurely swim. Safe and Proven Technology Bone conduction hearing is essentially an ancient sensory capability that the new SwiMP3 leverages to enhance the experience of swimmers, triathletes, surfers, synchronized swimmers and anyone involved in general water activities. It is a safe, proven technology that the SwiMP3 offers to the wide audience of aquatic athletes. Additional Info: PC and Mac Compatible 256 MB Rechargable Battery Supported Formats: MP3 & WMA Weighs Only 2 Ounces.
Customer Review: Battery Life Short
I have owned both models, the one that fit on the back of your head, and the current model. They both suffered from the same problem and that is these units can only be charged so many times before the battery goes dead. Unfortunately, there is no disclaimer of this point on the packaging. The unit is great when it works, but no so great when it "gives up the ghost" after so many charges. At $180 a pop, the unit becomes an expensive toy based on the problem mentioned above.
Customer Review: Had one for over 1 year - It is Awesome!!
I swim a couple days a week and could not imagine doing so without listening to the music. Before the swimP3 the workout would be over quickly. With it the workout just fly's by. The sound is great - I use it with a center mount snorkel and do not have to use ear plugs.

Finis SwimP3 Charger

Finis SwimP3 Charger Wall charger for use with the SwiMP3 Aqua MP3 player.
Customer Review: Fairly useless unless mine's defective
It seems strange but the MP3 player turns on as soon as I plug in the charger and I can't turn it off. The result is the player doesn't charge up. I haven't called tech support yet but this looks like a design flaw to me. The player charges via USB just fine. I had hoped the wall charger would be faster and more convenient.
Customer Review: Smaller than pictured, ideal for traveling
Compact & convenient to use when you don't have access to a computer with USB port for recharging the Finis Waterproof Swim Pool MP3 Music Player (SwiMP3 V2) (Latest Model). Perfect for taking on vacation. You just fold out the prongs, plug it into the wall, insert the SwimP3 plug, and leave it alone for 2-3 hours till fully charged. I was surprised & pleased at how small it is, about 2 inches by 2 inches square and only 1/2 inch thick. At first I was afraid it would get lost in my luggage, but I found that both charger and player easily fit into the plastic case that comes with the SwimP3. The only thing I wish it had was a little notch or tab where you could place the cap of the SwimP3 while it's charging - it's so easy to misplace that cap (but that's not the fault of the charger). It comes in a tiny bubble-wrap pouch that protects it when storing. I've been using this charger for over a year and have never had a problem with it. P.S. Purchased via Amazon's merchant PolarDiscount - fast shipping & great service.

Customer Review: mp3 underwater adventure
hi! i purchased this mp3 player with the hope that it would provide me with some relaxation during my daily swim. it did until i went 2-3 laps into my swim, at which point the ear phones allowed enough water in to drown out the sound. which requires stopping and readjusting them so you can hear again.i no longer plan on them for swimming laps but find them invalable while doing other water exercises.the player it self has very small controls and the direction manual could use some detail improvments as well. i would purchase the player again, but only because i found a great deal on amazon and really needed to add something to my workouts.

Customer Review: Why did I listen to all those good reviews?
I was about to purchase the more traditional Aquabeat mp3 player, when I decided to pour over all the reviews for the SwiMP3. I was convinced it would be the better player for me to use while doing my lap swimming. I suppose it is possible it is better than the Speedo Aquabeat, but only if the Speedo is really awful.

Seriously people, are their really that many people working at FINIS who were asked/told to write super positive reviews to generate sales? Is that what is going on? The only other explanation I can think of is that buyers are so shocked that the SwiMP3 player works at all, that they post a positive review with no regard to how well it works.

This is what I have to say about the actual performance. It is a cross between a $5 transistor radio, circa 1972, and a pair of those tin cans kids use to connect with a string to talk back and forth.

When I was younger and shopping for high-end audio equipment, the salesmen would always brag about such things as frequency response, saying the speakers or phono cartridge would reproduce frequencies as low as 20 hertz, and as high as 20,000 hertz. You could hear the artists fingers sliding up and down the guitar strings and the crisp high note of a drum stick hitting a symbol, as well as the low organ note or kick drum. The SwiMP3 player sounds like it has a range of maybe 5000 hertz to 5075 hertz. It has no range at all. It has absolutely no bass and no high frequency during playback. It has a very narrow band that it can reproduce, somewhere in the middle range. It also sounds muffled. Maybe as muffled as the Speedo Aquabeat sounds when the users ear canal fills with water while listening to music.

Be careful, you would-be buyers. Shop around. Remember that these reviews could be from Finnis employees. Well, not mine, but that should be obvious.

the earplugs are not long enough. water continues to get in my ear. i lost the left plug more than the right. my swim caps doesnot fit well with the earplugs. i have to buy a swim cap that will help me keep the earplugs in place. but to download the music was easy. i guess it's okay. l really enjoy listening to the music when the water is not in my ear.
